Denise is at the point now that when she is awake she is in pain and when she takes enough medicine to stop the pain, she falls asleep.  She is still trying to be active, but over does it and suffers for it.  The pain is mostly in her back and right arm.  She has additional pain when she moves her right arm.  Her hospice nurse suggested they switch from morphine to methadone, so she is at a care facility under doctor's supervision while they switch the medicines.  She may be there for as much as seven days.

Reception Ready Home and Yard, Gilbert Arizona, November 2015

If hate is not an option –
And the words have all but died –
And no one’s ardent action,
Closed the gap on either side.
Is it time that stems the bleeding?
Or more love - the reaching deep?

Whisked Away

Heian Gingu New Years Day 1981, Kyoto Japan

When written well
Words will spring
Clean from the page
And capture me

Sloshing wet
Or freezing cold
Whisked away
I love to go

Horton Creek, Arizona, June 2006

Rain falling
Forest of pines

Mist rising
Tingles Spine

Wind softly
Sings its song

Campfire warming
‘Til it’s gone

Campfire, Pinto Creek Wilderness, Arizona, October 2015
They do not know
And so it’s dark
No place to go
Scene is stark

The walking path
Which they must tread
Made treacherous
Now fills with dread

Oh that they’d learned
To read the map
To find the light
To close the gap
