Untrustworthy

Denise at the cleansing fountain, Hachioji Temple Japan, April 2006

As a friend
Who lost –
The thing you lent
Forever changes
Temperament

Cancer is a
Broken trust –
I never can
Forgive – Forget.

Chance

Pueblo Canyon Ruins, Sierra Ancha Wilderness, Arizona, September 2005
Sometimes I choose
Mid Options two
No outcome’s known
One - win
One - lose

And chance is all
I’ve to recall
For choice must come
Before prize or pall

Journal

Denise was accepted into the trial and starts her first infusion today.  It is a chemotherapy with immune system booster medication that has been used effectively against melanoma.  We are very thankful that she was accepted into the program and hopeful.  There is a 25% effectiveness rating.  We'll know after three 21 day cycles, or in sixty-three days whether it is working or not.

Best Things

Dan, Rodney, Bill and Lloyd Serving at CASS, Phoenix Arizona March 2008
Cookie Dough?
They say-
“Eat and die!”
Though -
No one I know!
Still –
What a way to go!

Journal

Denise got a call from her oncologist.  The small spot on her chest wall is cancerous.  The doctors want her to stop the Xeloda treatment.  He will consider a clinical trial of some kind.

Surrogate

Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Gardens, Taipei Taiwan, April 2006
"Please Pen a poem”,
She described the thought
But I could not write
Another’s words
No depth occurred
It was not mine
Perhaps another time.

Challenge

Alex and Eric Snow Caves Snoqualmie Pass Washington, February 1997
Watching little ones
A meadow explore
Traversing a wall
“Please Help Me!”
She called.

She got nothing at all
But encouraging words
I watched as she grew
Mind, feet and nerves.

What do you learn,
When you walk on a wall?
Balance and fear –
The other side calls –
Contrast between,
The is and not known

There are those
Won’t venture a go
Can’t muster the courage
Won’t self-impose.

What’s to be done?
Until they decide
A challenge is fun
Out there – World Wide.

Perhaps they were burned.

Conversation

Ben and Pals at the Mall, Gilbert Arizona,January 2004

Practiced and sure
From yon Sea of words
A perfect fit –
Like tree and birds

What would life be
If everyone knew
Just what to say
Think ten P.M. news.

Pain wiped away
A team motivate
Broken heart healed
Who’ll guide in this quest?
To what principle appeal?

Honesty?
Courage?
A fawning Concern?
A Balanced Scale –
From which movie script?
From whom can we learn?
Is it possible to earn?
