Course Correcting

Snowy Four Peaks, Mazatzal Mt Range Arizona, January 2017

Are the words of reproof for another?
Does the voice of concern stir or call?
How see you the letters that are written?
How read you the words on the wall?

Take to heart the rod of correction
Overcome and my life purify.
Oh the joy of the trial now accomplished
The vantage from the hilltop now espy.

For the humble ever are learning
They seek the truth that is hid
When they speak – the words plainly matter
When they lead – the path clearly bid.

Lying awake to ponder
Could all the world I see
Coming of Age Day, Haian Gingu Shrine, Kyoto Japan, March 1981
And speak to each a single truth?
If all were spoken – Perfectly.

If all the songs were ordered so
Arranged are pictured walls
Could such a subtle fabric weave
So sorrow sooth and ease recall?

No control no tyranny
But honest truth declare –
To hear to speak to understand
Words floating on the air
In such a way that all would fare
Equally well

Alas! – A dream of fools!
For none could be so wise or fair
And some seek darkness
And shadows wear

Soul - be content to order one
Seeking harmony
To rise above the darkening night
Seeking Godly light

Canyon Lake, Arizona, December 2016
Listening to the story
Weave a subtle thread
Began to feel this worry
I seemed to fill with dread

Another controlled the words
And powerless against the mood
Longing to be elsewhere
Yet there I stood

Compelled by what I feel –
I tried to raise my hand
Intention now as steel
I rose and took a stand

Though the story did not change
I found among the throng
A few who looked to me
Who felt I was not wrong

Together then we made a change
We did not further stay
We took each other by the hand

We went another way

Two at odds
Snow Cradle, Pinetop Arizona, December 2016
Use words that bite
Both I love
Not mine, their fight.

It pains me so
And I see how
To take offense
But won’t
