Word Art

Me at Portage Glacier, Alaska June 1998

Ooh – they’re dark and full of pain
Mind is stone and eyes are rain
Do not there tread unless you must
Excise a canker or lost is trust

He took the pain deep in his soul
Mixed in words, sounds and more
Formed a piece on mantle placed
For all to see and some embrace

The hole t’was left when pain had gone
Has healed o’er though scars be long
Yet even they begin to thin
Time works its magic once again

Do not fault the artist’s hand
He did not ask for rocky sand
He only did what thought he must
Restore respect bring back the trust
